2026 AWALC and CLC Legal Studies Program Ethics and Professionalism Seminar

Join us Friday, January 9, 2026, for our Professionalism & Ethics Seminar! 6 MCLE Credits, including diversity and mental health!

Join AWALC for or our 10th biennial Professionalism & Ethics Seminar! This seminar has been approved for 6 MCLE credits, including diversity and mental health credits. THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD VIA ZOOM. Log-in will begin at 8:00am. We will have a 55-minute lunch break from 11:45 p.m. to 12:40pm. The seminar will conclude by 4:00pm. A Zoom link and seminar materials will be emailed to registrants 1-2 days before the event.

Seminar topics include:

  • Artificial Intelligence in the Practice of Law, Judge Raymond J. McKoski (Ret.);
  • Professionalism in the Workplace/Sexual Harassment, Jayne Reardon, Prior Executive Director of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism;
  • How to Defend an ARDC Complaint, Sari Montgomery of Robinson, Stewart, Montgomery & Doppke, LLC;
  • A special optional lunch-time presentation from the Art Impact Project;
  • How to Cultivate Emotional Balance in Stressful Situations,  Dr. Thomas Golebiewski, Ph.D., M.S.W. and Arlene Messner-Peters, LCSW;
  • Creating “Safezones” in the Legal Practice, Emily Rudolph, Board Member of the LGBTQ+ Center Lake County; and
  • Succession Plans and Maintaining Files, John R. Cesario of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission

Cost to attend: $100 Members; $200 for Non-Members; $50 for government employees or legal aid employees; $175 for New Members or those that have not yet renewed 2025/2026 dues. There will be a $1.00 surcharge for credit card fees. Should you wish to pay by check or cash, please email emailawalc@gmail.com or come to our monthly meeting and pay in-person. CLC Students may register for free by emailing emailawalc@gmail.com. **EVERY PARTICIPANT WILL NEED TO REGISTER SEPARATELY. ONLY 1 PERSON PER REGISTRANT WILL BE PROVIDED MCLE CREDIT.**

AWALC Monthly Meeting:

AWALC regularly schedules monthly business meetings throughout the year, which feature guest speakers to present on topics that are relevant and of interest to our members. These monthly meetings are not only open to the entire membership but also to guests.

We meet the 1st Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. at Nirco. Located at 202 S. Genesee St., Waukegan, IL 60085. Lunch is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. We accept cash, credit card, or check.
